About Whipbroker

What is Whipbroker?
Whipbroker is a peer-to-peer marketplace for vehicles — cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, off-road, and aircraft. Owners list directly; buyers reach out directly. No broker fees, no commission on sales. We make money on a small contact-unlock fee paid by buyers (or a Whipbroker Unlimited pass) — never by taking a cut of the deal between you and the other party.
How is Whipbroker different from Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or Cars.com?
Three differences:
  • Verified people on both sides.Every seller and buyer confirms a phone number, and high-value transactions ($100K+) also require government-ID verification. You always know you're talking to a real person — not a bot, not a duplicate account, not someone with five aliases.
  • Buyers commit before reaching out. To see your contact info, a buyer pays a small unlock fee. That filters tire kickers and resellers out of your inbox — the people who reach you are serious enough to spend money first.
  • Refunds protect both sides. If a seller doesn't respond, the buyer gets their unlock fee back. If the deal closes on platform, the buyer gets their fee back as a thank-you. Either way, no one walks away burned.
Why do I need to verify my phone number?
Phone verification is the single highest-signal anti-fraud check available. A real US mobile number is tied to a real billing relationship with a carrier — much harder to fake than an email address. When you verify, every interaction on the platform carries that signal: this person is who they say they are, and is reachable.

It also unlocks the Verified Buyer / Verified Seller badge on your profile, which sellers and buyers use to decide who to engage with first. Takes about 30 seconds — we text you a 6-digit code, you type it in.
What does identity verification add on top of phone?
For Luxury-tier listings ($100K+), we also require a government-ID check (driver's license, passport, or state ID + selfie). This is what blocks the most serious fraud — someone using a real phone number but lying about their name or background.

It also gives sellers of high-value vehicles real confidence that the person inquiring is who they claim to be. For a $250,000 vehicle, that matters. The check takes about 5 minutes, runs through a third-party identity provider, and we never store your ID photo on our servers.
Why does Whipbroker care so much about trust and verification?
Marketplaces for high-value items are magnets for fraud. Fake listings, stolen-vehicle resales, payment scams, identity theft — every other vehicle marketplace has all of these, because they let anyone create an account in seconds with a throwaway email.

Whipbroker is designed differently from day one: verified people on both sides, paid-commitment to reach out, and refund protection if things go wrong. The goal is a marketplace where a seller listing a $200K vehicle and a buyer inquiring about it can both feel comfortable that the other person is real, serious, and accountable. That's the kind of environment where deals actually happen.
Is my data safe? Do you share my information?
Your contact information (email, phone) is only revealed to buyers who pay to unlock your specific listing. It's never displayed publicly, never sold to third parties, never used for marketing, and never shared with dealerships or lead-gen brokers. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

For buyers

How do I contact a seller?
Find a listing you're interested in and click Unlock contact info. You pay a flat unlock fee based on the listing's price tier — $4.99 for Standard (under $25K), $14.99 for Premium ($25K–$100K), or $39.99 for Luxury ($100K+). ID-verified buyers save 30-40% on every unlock($2.99 Standard / $9.99 Premium). Your card is charged once, and the seller's email and phone are revealed instantly. Not the right fit? Refunds on recent unlocks are typically approved — see “How do refunds work?” below.
How does the Verified Buyer discount work?
Complete the free identity verification (phone + government-ID, takes about 5 minutes at Get verified) and your unlock prices drop for life: $2.99 Standard (saves $2) and $9.99 Premium (saves $5). Luxury tier already requires verification, so the $39.99 price is the same. The discount applies automatically on every unlock — no codes, no clicking. One verification, lower prices forever.
What's Whipbroker Unlimited?
Whipbroker Unlimitedis a one-time $100 pass that gives you 30 days of unlimited contact unlocks across every tier, one-click unlocking, and access to the waitlist and auto-unlock features. The pass expires on its own — there's no subscription and nothing to cancel. Re-purchasing while a pass is active extends your expiry by 30 days. Free identity verification (phone + government ID) is required to purchase — keeps the platform's anti-fraud guarantees consistent for both members and the sellers they contact.
Who is Unlimited for?
Whipbroker Unlimited is for buyers actively shopping over the next month. At $100 for 30 days of unlimited unlocks, it pays for itself after roughly 7 Premium unlocks or 3 Luxury unlocks. If you only need one or two contacts, pay-per-unlock (with the verified-buyer discount) is the cheaper option.
What if the seller never responds?
If you don't hear back, request a refund from the Supportpage (linked from the footer and from any unlocked listing). Select “Seller didn't respond” as the reason. Your first refund is approved instantly. Subsequent refunds are reviewed by our team within a short window.
How do refunds work?
Not the right fit? Refunds on recent unlocks are typically approved. Visit Support, pick the unlock you want refunded, and choose a reason: Seller didn't respond, Not as described, Possible scam, or Something else. Your first refund is approved immediately; subsequent requests are reviewed by our team within a short window. Approved refunds return to your card. Unlocks made with an Unlimited pass are free, so there's nothing to refund — the pass simply stays active.
What happens after I confirm a purchase?
When a seller marks their vehicle sold and identifies you as the buyer, you'll get a notification asking you to confirm. If you confirm, your unlock cost is refunded — a thank-you for completing the deal on platform. If you'd already received a refund earlier (e.g. for no response), that prior refund stands — you won't be double-paid, but you also won't be charged again.
Can I unlock the same listing twice?
No — once you've unlocked a listing, you have permanent access to that seller's contact info. We won't charge you a second time, ever, for the same listing.
What is the waitlist?
If a listing you want is in a pending sale, Whipbroker Unlimited members can join the waitlist to get notified the moment it reactivates. Unlimited members can also opt to auto-unlock — auto-unlock uses your pass to grab the contact info as soon as the listing goes live again, beating manual buyers. Waitlist + auto-unlock are Unlimited-only features.
What does Verified Buyer mean?
Verified Buyer proves you've completed phone and government-ID verification. It's free to verify — visit Get verified. Verified buyers get 30-40% off every unlock($2.99 Standard / $9.99 Premium vs. the public $4.99 / $14.99) and can unlock Luxury tier listings ($100K+). Unlimited pass holders still need to complete the verification flow once — it's required to purchase the pass.
Why can't I unlock this listing?
Luxury listings ($100K+) are restricted to Verified Buyers. If you see a 'Get verified to unlock' prompt instead of the usual unlock button, complete the free verification flow at /verify (about 5 minutes — phone + ID check) and you'll be able to unlock any Luxury listing across the site.
What's a Wanted ad?
Can't find the vehicle you're looking for? Post a Wanted ad (free) describing what you want — category, budget, and location. Verified sellers with matching vehicles get notified and can unlock your contact info to reach out directly. You'll also get notified when a matching listing goes live.

Posting requires the free identity verification (Get verified) since sellers pay to see your contact info. Budget must be at least $5,000. Wanted ads run for 30 days and can be renewed anytime. Post a Wanted ad →

For sellers

How much does it cost to list?
Free for standard listings (under $100K). Premium listings priced at $100K or above require identity verification (free, ~5 minutes) AND a one-time $49 listing fee. The fee plus required verification ensure every inquiry on a six-figure vehicle comes from someone who has passed a government-ID check, not an anonymous tire kicker.
How do I list my vehicle?
Click List vehiclein the navigation bar. You'll be guided through a short wizard: category, details, photos, and pricing. A listing can go live in under five minutes.
Who can contact me?
Only buyers who have paid an unlock fee (or used a Whipbroker Unlimited pass) to unlock your listing can see your email and phone. Every contact represents a real commitment, not a tire kicker.
Why would I pay to contact a buyer?
Wanted ads are requests from ID-verified buyers actively shopping with a stated budget. If one matches your vehicle, unlocking their contact ($4.99–$39.99 depending on the budget tier; ID-verified members get the discounted $2.99/$9.99 pricing) lets you reach a serious buyer directly instead of waiting for them to find your listing. The same refund protection applies as listing unlocks. Browse them under the Wanted tab in search.
Can I include my phone number or email in my listing description?
We strongly recommend against it. Whipbroker protects your contact info so only verified, paying buyers can reach you — that's what filters out low-effort inquiries and keeps your inbox clean. If you post your number or email in the listing description or photos, anyone can see it for free, which bypasses those protections entirely. Keep your contact details off the listing and let the platform work for you.
Will I be notified when a buyer unlocks my listing?
Yes — you'll get an in-app notification immediately. You can also enable email and/or SMS notifications per listing in your listing settings.
What happens if I don't respond to a buyer?
We'll send you a reminder after 3 days if a buyer hasn't heard back. If a buyer reports they couldn't reach you, they can request a refund. Two approved no-response refunds on the same listing will automatically pause it — buyers can no longer unlock it until you reactivate from your dashboard.
How do I mark my vehicle as sold?
From your seller dashboard, find the listing and select Mark as sold. You'll be asked to identify which buyer you sold to (if the deal happened on Whipbroker). The buyer will then confirm or deny the sale.
Can I pause or remove my listing?
Yes. From your dashboard you can pause a listing (hides it from search but keeps it intact) or remove it entirely at any time.
What is a Premium listing?
Listings priced at $100K or above are Premium listings. Three things apply:
  • Seller must complete identity verification (phone + government-ID) — free, ~5 minutes
  • One-time $49 listing fee
  • Only buyers who have ALSO completed identity verification can unlock your contact info — they pay $39.99 per unlock at this tier. The result: zero tire kickers, a smaller but much higher-quality inbox.
Do I need to be verified as a seller?
Verification is free for sellers. It's optional for standard listings (under $100K) but mandatory for Premium listings ($100K+)— there's no free path around it. The flow is the same as the buyer flow — visit Get verified and complete phone + ID verification (~5 minutes). Verified sellers display a badge on their listings, which buyers tend to trust more.

How does Whipbroker make money?
Buyers pay per unlock (tiered by listing price; ID-verified buyers save 30-40%) or buy a Whipbroker Unlimited 30-day pass ($100, one-time) for unlimited unlocks. Sellers list standard listings for free; premium listings ($100K+) require verification plus a one-time $49 fee. There are no hidden commissions or auto-lead upsells.
